Beautiful view of the Tatra peaks, quiet and peaceful surroundings are ideal for families with children. The High Tatras with its 24 peaks higher than 2 500 m is the king of the Slovak mountains. The mountain massif, measuring from east to west 25 km, is part of the Tatra National Park, established in 1949 which is the largest national park in Slovakia. There are more than 110 lakes, as well as numerous waterfalls and caves. The High Tatras is the most visited and the most developed tourist region in Slovakia, with the widest possibilities for sports activities in summer and winter. The main centers are the climatic spa Štrbské Pleso, Stary Smokovec and Tatranska Lomnica. |
